litsea Cubeba Oil

Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil is extracted from the Peppery fruits of Litsea cubeba or famously known as May Chang, through steam distillation method. It is native to China and tropical regions of Southeast Asia, and belongs to the Lauraceae family of plant kingdom. It is also known by the name, Mountain Pepper or Chinese Pepper and has a rich history in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TMC). Its wood is used to make furniture and leaves are often used to make essential oil as well, though it is not of the same quality. It is considered a natural remedy in TMC, and used to treat Digestive issues, Muscle pain, fevers, infections and Respiratory complications.

Litsea Cubeba oil has a very corresponding smell to Lemon and Citrus oils. It is the biggest competitor for lemongrass essential oil and has similar benefits and aroma to it. It is used in making cosmetic products like Soaps, Handwashes and Bathing products. It has a sweet-citrusy aroma, which is used in Aromatherapy to treat pain and uplift mood. It is a great anti-septic and anti-infectious agent, and that’s why it is used in Diffusers oils and Steamers to ease respiratory complications. It also relieves nausea and foul mood. It is added to skin care products that treat acne and skin infections. Its disinfectant nature is used in making floor cleaners and disinfectants.
